I repeat: Carbon adheres to the same laws of physics as fiberglass. Sure, manufacturers CAN (and most likely does) use the advantage of carbon (strength/weight ratio) to create different bend characteristics. It all ends up in a different design. Not that carbon creates a portal to another dimension and "lends" a different set of physical laws. Unless there's a difference in flex and bend characteristics, would physics dictate that they return energy at the same rate (providing that the combined mass is equal (which is why I argued that taking a leak would have a greater impact)).
Leaking is a different matter. Haven't got a clue of whether carbon leaks more or less than fiberglass (get's warmer from being bent and unbent), but doubts that it's noticable.

I'll repeat what I have said earlier: Carbon allows for a lighter pole with a smaller diameter. Some will benefit. Try it out, and make your choice.

Now, one claim I'm unsure about: Carbon's don't alter their characteristics that much when hot or cold.... Possible....
