ESSX
I started jumping on ESSX poles some last year and all the time now, and I would like to just say that Bruce has really done a great job getting some custom poles out to me in a very short time, and they are a great series. I have had no problems getting poles rather quickly, in fact I have one on the way
. Although I would have to disagree with my friend Mr. Litchfield I think the essx poles role in a little easier than spirits but it might just be the way I vault, either way they are a sweet ride.

bruce i have to say that the essx carbons are a little heavier then the pacer carbons but i really like that way the feel. for some reason the fell right even just during the run. i have to say i think spirits are softer and roll better but essx poles are deffinetly a rid if you can try them do it they are great poles.
If you cant do it right , do if 10000 more times till you can
Essx are great poles
I can't speak from experience of using many different poles, but my son uses Essx and we have had great results. Bruce has been a great help and the poles have always got to us on time. Would highly reccomend them to any vaulter.

We have a project we are working on called ESSX GOLD ultralights
soon to be reality. We can make them lighter but we will not if the performance lacks!!
IN referance to spirits rolling better the spirit pole is a well made product and has the potential to roll well if you jump properly on it.
We believe the ESSX will help you to roll the pole if you have not mastered this with other poles.
It's pick up action at the plant has help many athletes to have better posture at the take off.
The ESSX pole is designed to roll easier than any vaulting pole.

ROLLING
THANKS FOR HANDING ME A SOAP BOX to stand on LOL
Energy must roll up the pole if the run, plant and swing energy is stored in the pole while it is bending, the worst thing that could happen is the top of the pole would not bend over as you have not completed the cycle. You would bend the pole but not penatrate into the pit! The total hoop of the pole must roll forward maintaining the energy to give you a ride on top.
A proper swing and pendulum time with the pole will keep the center of mass behind the pole for the most explosive energy on top.
upward and forward.
A pole that will not roll over or bend over will return the energy upward with a lot of force but not enough energy to get you over the bar. You have to clear the bar completely just being on top by 18" does not win meets if you cannot clear the bar.
Rolling a pole is more than just a technique it is also built in to pole design of the ESSX.
If you do not jump with an ESSX at the plant you will not feel what we are talking about. If you jump with the pole the pole will keep your posture straight for a taller plant, the pole seems to lift the vaulter due to its stiffer butt concept providing a better take-off. It forces you to do things properly to get the most out of the pole.
Coach Stand to the side of your vaulters existing pole and see what the top of the pole does in the swing back and pull-turn phases. IN most cases you will see a pole that is straight. Sometimes you will see energy going the wrong way and bending the lower part of the pole, which does nothing for you at all but allow the pole to touch the pit and the ride is over. It is so difficult to master getting on top of a bending pole when the top is straight, so much easier to get the ride on a pole that bends over for you!!!!
Welcome to the World of ESSX truly a designed pole for vaulters! even those using 11'6" 12'4" 13'1", 13'7" 14'1" and 14'7" poles
PS SPirit Poles roll better than other brands ESSX rolls the best

I'll take this one...
You have to visualize this. When a pole is bent, picture it being a 1/2 circle, then imagine the rest of the circle being there connected to each end of the pole. It's in the shape of a hoop, right? Now, picture how a hoop or wheel "rolls" forward. When a pole bends, it should be "rolling" forward" as it unbends, and not just unbending back towards the runway or straight up and down. If it rolls too far, it's a "blowthrough." So rolling over is the term used to describe the pole moving forward through the jump allowing the vaulter to "penetrate" into the pit.
Many mechanical factors affect how a pole rolls over. Structural factors in the pole, such as length and position of sailpiece are also purported to affect this. Bruce claims his lower sail/stiffer butt design helps prevent the pole from getting crushed up against the back of the box and pit, and the top of the pole is free to "roll over" smoothly.

I just had the oppurtunity to visit the essx or xlogic factory, I can honestly tell you it was the time of my life I did not get to meet bruce but Beto showed me around the place and explained evrything very well I ahve started to see alot of people starting to jump on the essx poles out here in west texas. I will definitely be buying an essx pole soon and I will be spreading the word about the essx poles they are a great thing keep up the good work and if you ever get the chance to visit the company I strongly suggest it. Thanks again Bruce

Thank you both for the explanation. So basically, if I understand this right, all poles "roll", just some better than others. Ex. My old 15'cat-a-pole, with me holding down 2 1/2 to 3 feet from the top "rolled" (cause I always got in the pit) but even back then, if I would have had say a 13 foot pole, same weight, that I could have held on more towards the top, it would have "rolled" better, right? With todays equipment that's a focus to get better performance out of the pole. It's also the reason that back when I was jumpin' my crossbar placement was at most 9 inches to a foot into the pit and I've read here that some of the vaulters place their crossbar 24 to 30 inches into the pit. Am I gettin' it? Later.........Mike
