Spikes

Unread postby Tubaman » Thu Mar 09, 2006 12:14 am

I was wondering how much those specialy-made-for-pole-vaulting spikes make a difference? I know that spikes help me a lot better than tennis shoes, but is it worth spending the extra cash to get some spikes that are said to help vaulters?

you can get some discontinued vault specific shoes at eastbay for relitively cheap. But really its all a personal preference.

Spikes will help you compared to tennis shoes, but you don't need to buy expensive pole vault specific spikes. Any mid-distance or jumping spike will work fine. Stay away from sprint spikes as they have no heel padding. Look for older models. You shouldn't have to spend more than $30.

Anybody on here use the Nike Zoom Shift for vaulting? I'm in desperate need for new spikes and they're cheap on Eastbay ($19.99) and was going to get them. They're for 400 to 3k and I heard distance spikes aren't too shabby for vaulting. Thanks.
