Help me

Hey, I just started pole vaulting and I start at the top of the pole and ended up slidding at least 3 feet down the pole. I tried holding lower but I still slide the same amount. Doesn't anyone know anything that might help me!!!! PLEASE!! :D

Lower your grip until you dont slide. That and squeeze harder. Pole vaulting becomes very dangerous when you can't grip the pole, so please be careful.
