altogether poles are like evrything else in the world, they are going to get old over time, meening less new, meaning different from when they were new, meaning all poles are gonna gain flexibility over time. It all depends on what type of life they have had. "Why cant we be friends, why cant we be friends, why cant we be friends, why cant we be friends......" ( you have to sing this part, it makes it more dramatic)
Just fly high, and KISS THE SKY!!!

I hate to disagree...........but.........I test and retest tons of poles a year (flex) and the Pacer brand (skypole and mystic included) will lose, at the most about .3 of a flex (about 1.5lbs). That is on everything from poles made a year ago to poles made 15 years ago. Some of the other brands can lose as much as 2.5cm (over 10lbs) within 100 jumps. Lon and Dub know what I am talkin bout. This varies depending on the length and original stiffness of the pole. Make your own flex mach (its not that tough to fig out) and take your brand new pole and flex it.......then after about 50 to 100 jumps do it again and see what happens. The problem with poles getting softer over time is if you dont know the exact flex and your seris is running .6 (3lbs) from pole to pole and you need the next bigger pole your gonna have tons of trouble at first getting on the next .6 bigger pole. This is because your 15.9 (engraved into the glass) is acually a 16.5 so the 15.3 you just bought is 1.2 (6lbs) stiffer until you get that new one to "soften up" like the rest of your series. This is another good reason for the elite vaulter to understand flexs or pay the consequences. Again the bigger the pole (weight) the less likly it is to soften significantly.
If you want to know how to flex a pole..........ask me, lon or dub.....there may be others on the board but i know we can guide you in the right direction.

The point here is to share information.................ok its also to waste some time just chattin but hopfully you can also get good information about important questions related to the vault. The reason most boards die is there is nothing worth reading............or the 9' high school jumpers post every reply and tell the 11' jumpers how to jump 17' and almost nothing they write is worth reading. Thats how vaultworld died. So.......dont take it personally.......maybe, just maybe that exchange helped someone and made the world just a little bit better place.

Well I am very impressed with how much stuff there has been worth reading so far Especially considering this is a very DEAD time of year for vaulting!
I hope that having separate forums for high school and college will help with some of the problems you mentioned. People are more than welcome to post in either one... but by reading which forum a post is in will give you a better idea of who it is intended for. You know what I mean?

to whom it may concern,
So you still think that Spirits make you jump higher. How? That would be the real question. You won't be able to change my mind, or Lon's, or Brian's, we are old, and have been gathering info about this for years. But I would like to understand where you are coming from.
The wierd part is that what some of you seem to be saying is the exact opposite of what most people have told us regarding Spirits and Pacers. Also in an earlier someone mentioned that Carbons worked better than "regular glass" poles. So why would you jump on a "regular glass" pole. It should not be cost, Carbons are competitive with spirts in price.
What is the deal with this?
I would really like to understand this. The key is as always data, the more the better. The data I have tends to support one company over another, but if someone can show me some data I have missed, I would love to hear it.

Carbon or regular - Lite or Regular - two weeks ago I jumped on both to see wht my preception would be of each - both had the same flex - Pacer FX and a Carbon - Carbon had a lighter feel for carry weight - maybe felt a little more response on top - but could have been placebo effect - I plan on doing a little back room testing to compare the return rate - as stated earlier - a pole behaves like a special spring - the problem with using an inconsistent vaulter (like me) you don't know if it is the pole or you - the more technically proficient and consistent the easier to tell the difference - but the real true way is to take the human element out - but that has to wait until another day
