Re: Spirit vs. Pacer
I really doubt the Spirit pole was mislabeled (from their perspective). Their 10'8 poles are very stiff compared to the 10'6 and 11' poles of other brands. I've jumped on them from short run just last year!

Re: Spirit vs. Pacer
Becca, I did not know that Spirit and Pacer were the only two types of poles!

Re: Spirit vs. Pacer
I have a spirit 15'6 17.6 and a carbon fx 15'6 17.6 (both made in 2004) the other day I swapped from one pole to the other every third jump trying to get the same step grip and run. They reacted exactly the same as far as clearance. The carbon pacer was lighter and more forgiving at take off but the spirit had a smoother roll I prefer lighter so I like the carbon fx but I was surprised that the carbon fx and spirit appeared to recoil at the same speed (weight was different but flex was the exact same). I also have a 18.4 carbon pacer made in the 90s that I am going to test against a 18.4 spirit that was made in the 90s, and a 18.0 16ft Essex pole I plan to test against an 18.0 spirit pole I have, i will post the video and tell what I feel, and you can anaylize the video for yourself. I will try to have the same run, pole, grip and step and test each pole at several different grip heights. Probably be about a month before I have enough video.

Re: Spirit vs. Pacer
Use what works best for you -- at your stage of development having a range of poles to develop thru is nice -- but sometimes it is use what is available
There is not "one" best pole
There is not "one" best pole
Plant like crap sometimes ok most times
