Worst Travel Story
So today we were in the Long Beach Airport checking our bags in. Our team does not have a pole bag anymore, because somebody stole it earlier in the season so we use shipping tubes and taped them together. We had 5 poles and 2 empty tubes. The Airline we flew was Jet Blue, the ticketing agent told us at first that we had to pay for each tube individually because they are all individual tubes, but they were taped together. When we asked why we had to pay for it like that she got all bent out of shape and started going on a power trip. My Head Coach got involved and we began to complain because she was charging us so much and its ridiculous to pay for them individually when they are taped together. The ticketing agent later got her supervisor and told us that Jet Blue's policy was that pole vault poles had to be separated if they are in shipping tubes. She then charged us $500.00 and told us to take all the tape off and have them separated. We had to leave our 2 empty tubes in the airport because we didn't want to pay 200 dollars more, but we lost 2 tubes to put poles in for competitions. When we left SFO the day before we only had to pay 20 dollars for each stack of poles, we had them separated 3 tubes and 4 tubes. The Long Beach Airport/ Jet Blue took our money and was continuosly rude to our entire track team while we were waiting to board our flight.
