carbon or fiberglass?

Unread postby saraf » Thu Feb 26, 2004 3:55 pm

I was wondering what all the differences of the different materials that poles are made of. I am sorta new at the sport and i don't exactly know the big or little differences of the different pole building materials

"E" glass, "S" glass, and carbon fiber. different glasses are similar but slightly differ in stiffness, often used in combination to get consistent results. carbon used to add stiffness, but less material, therefore a lighter and faster pole. in the case of ESSX, i believe the carbon is integrated within the glass, but im not positive about the process. however, i do know that they respond the same as normal glass poles in order to provide consistency throughout all poles. this is what they say, and I've found it to be true in two carbons that I have from them. ESSx Carbons vs. Carbon FX >> a matter of taste and prefernce. both very nice, very light, with different properties.
