Can anyone help
What would be the value of a pole used/owned by a US champion?
Could a vaulter use a pole from the 70's or 80's if it was in good shape?
Who could test the pole to see if it was safe?
Thanks - Bret

Elite (male) vaulters use poles that are really really big. Not many other people can use them, generally just other elites and some large decathletes. The retail value of a pole that big is high, but most elites get their poles for free. Also, poles made now have a lighter carry weight than poles made in the 70s and 80s, so of those who are physically capable of using a pole that big, few would want to if it's that old.
If there are no scratches or dings on the pole, and it hasn't been left out in the sun for months on end, it's probably safe to use. There's no great way to test them out other than just jumping on them.
The value of a pole is whatever you can get someone to pay for it, but odds are it's not very valuable.

Last time we were at Bell's, they had a brand new Spirit lying outside on the trash pile, because they said it was too big for anyone to use. They told me they would give it to me if I wanted it.
