Hi guys, so it's getting to that time of year: time to order poles!
My coach has put ~$7,000 in the budget for new poles, since we sort of need it. He bought a bunch of poles last year, but some of them got spiked right on the sail piece and we need to expand our series anyways.
I am concerned with our 4.00/4.15/4.30 series's.
Right now, we have UCS poles for the following:
4.00m:
160*
165*
4.15m:
160
4.30m:
145
150*
160
165
170
175
*indicates a spiked pole.
I was thinking of asking for 170/175 in the 4m series, 150, 155, 165, 170 in the 4.15 series, plus he wants to replace the damaged poles and get some smaller poles (probably altius to save money).
My question is would it be worth it to buy a new series of altius poles form 4m-4.15m? I believe it would save money as the altius carbon poles are considerably cheaper. Also, how do they compare to Carbon mystics and UCS poles in terms of jumping on them and carry weight?
Question about switching pole brands

Re: Question about switching pole brands
from the little i have jumped on the altius carbon poles they have all felt about 10 lbs softer then the label indicates and don't feel a whole lot of push off of the top.
i was on pacer carbons for years and they are great but switched to the essx recoil advances this year and am now hooked on them. the essx give all of the push at the top and are a lot less work to get in the pit, and they feel like running with a twig. i don't have a lot of time on ucs because they were to slow for me but if your looking for a great pole id recommend essx.

I'd stick with UCS since you already have so many.
