new pole

my school is going to buy me a pole, and im not sure what kind to get. im a male college freshman , i weigh around 135-140, im 5'8. in high school i jumped 12' holding around 12' on a 13 foot 135 lb pole. so far this year i jumped 11 on a 135 lb 11' pole. and i jumped alot better on a 12'4 165 lb pole. prolly woulda jumped 12-13' but i got injured. I dont really know what other info to give you. what brand/size pole do you guys recommend? my school is buying it, so price is no factor

well ive jumped with both spirit pacer and rocket and i love pacer...the carbons are a little harder to get on because they release faster so it would have to be determined by your jump if you should buy a carbon fx or a pacer fx....also some other good information would be if your injured are you going to jump indoors anymore because when you move outdoors the big pole will become a small one

At this point in your development, the brand does not matter. You will probably be able to get the most use from a 13' 150, 155, or 160. Any of those will hold you while you learn how to vault.

well im still vaulting on my injury, im just alittle slow haha. but theres only 1 more indoor meet for us, so this will be for outdoor.

yeah i was thinking something like what barto said, but i was thinking alittle taller though, maybe 14' or 14'6 is there much difference between holding at the top of a 12 foot pole, and holding 12 feet up on a 14' pole?

Yes, there is a big difference.

There is alot of vaulting left to be done before you need a 14' pole. By the time you do need a 14' pole it will be far stiffer than anything you could jump on effectively gripping down that far.

Go with a 13' or at the very most 13'6" pole and you will progress much faster and safer.

ive never really been on a good pole before, what if i just do great on the 13 foot pole my first week trying it, then ill be stuck with a little 13 footer for the rest of the time im at this school. in high school i had a 13'3 pole that i did great on.

if the school is going to buy you poles then go up with the pergression once uve maxed out on a 13 foot pole go to 14...its not like its your money...

it's not like it's you money that was very funny, but don't waste your schools charity it doesn't come around very often

sometimes you might have to suck it up and buy your own pole.....my high school couldnt' afford to buy me a new pole that was missing in the progression....so I had to buy it myself.....it was a big investment on my part, but it was the only way that I would imporve.
