USA Indoor Men - Walker 5.70, Quiller huge upset 5.60
Moderators: achtungpv, vaultmd
Hey I was on the field doing media spotting - they had to do the jumpoff originally because 3rd place was the alternate for the worlds team. However since QUiller does not have the world standard it actually became a battle for the 2nd team spot which Derek won with a nice clearance over 560

Technically, if he wanted to chase a qualifier, he could've done it, but would've had to do it today!
I wonder if they would've staged a competition in Boston this morning before everything got underway today?
From the IAAF:
"Performances must be achieved during the qualification period of 1 January 2007 to 25 February 2008 (midnight Monaco time), except for the Combined Events (see above)."

Walker bounces back with win
Reigning world indoor pole vault champion Brad Walker bounced back from a recent injury to win the AT&T USA indoor title in Boston.
Walker landed badly when competing at the Norwich Union International match in Glasgow a month ago and it was feared he might miss the remainder of the season.
But last summer's world outdoor gold medalist proved he is over the mis-hap by clearing 5.70metres to hold-off the challenge of runner-up Rory Quiller.
Quiller cleared 5.60m, a height also achieved by 2004 Olympic champion Toby Stevenson, Derek Miles and Jacob Pauli.
"I had got a little banged up in a meet in Glasgow," said 26-year-old Walker, who blamed the accident on using a new set of poles. "My ankles and feet took a hit in the plant box. But I'm pretty much back to normal now."
Now he plans on defending his world indoor title in Valencia on March 9, before scaling up his Olympic Games preparations.
"This was the plan from the beginning: to compete indoors, head for the world indoors and then begin gearing up for the outdoor (Olympic) trials," he said. "I was pleased with the way I competed."
