Adam Pierson posted a personal best 5.41 (17'9) tonight at the Texas State Bobcat Open in San Marcos. He then attempted 5.51 blowing through on his first attempt, moving up to the biggest pole he's ever used for his second attempt with a test-jump bailout, and passed to 5.56 for his 3rd attempt, also a test jump. He cleared 5.41 on a 5m 15.0 Pacer III gripping about 15'6, and moved to a 5m 14.6 Pacer III gripping 15'7 at 5.51 and 5.56. He was running from 14 steps/7 lefts. It was about 40-45 degrees with no wind and no one left in the competition after 5.05, as opposed to 55 degrees with a smoking tailwind during warmups 2 hours earlier.
Training partner Bobby Most had an impressive warmup, easily clearing the 520 bungee in warmups by over 6" on his smallest pole (490 18.8 Spirit), but after a 1st attempt blow-thru at his opening height 5.05, strained his hamstring on his 2nd attempt and had to call it a day.
