was on a pod cast the other night and they claim they only have 10 male vaulters and I heard(unverified) of 13 women...... the schedual seems geared for those who alot of time and no family commitments during the summer. Still issues on the $189 ticket... the travel agenct quoted me $400 from Cleveland to Vegas and I can get alot cheaper fro Columbus to vegas...Poles, again, are an issue.

Dear Track & Field Enthusiasts, Coaches, & Athletes:

Please pass the word along...we are requesting athletes to join our new reality TV show... the extended deadline to sign up online is approaching fast: Monday, April 21st... First meet to be recorded for TV: Las Vegas, NV @ UNLV, May 17th & 18th. (USATF sanctioned)

In light of the recent anabolic steroid scandals, our sport, track & field, must be brought back to its original state, where the greatest OlympiansËœstemming from the original games in GreeceËœused their raw talents to succeed in a true sport of strength and endurance. Ironically, we have US athletes who have chosen to be number one, instead of displaying their gifts, their talentsËœwe have lost sight of our purpose in this sport. What happened to the love and adrenalin for pure competition and determination? What are we teaching our youth? Are we saying that cheating is the only way to win to be famous?

Let‚s bring our sport back to earth, back to the minds of the US audience who just wants to watch honest competition and the achievements of hard work by real athletes.

Join Ann Marie Production in this venture to find track & field anew again, as we produce the first 2008 track & field ultimate physical challenge to hit TV:  T.R.A.C.K. Live! (Top Resurrected Athletes Challenge-Ken) is a new sports reality show that allows former high school track & field stars ages 32 to 72 to compete for the glory once again.

What‚s the catch? Real discipline and determination: Can „resurrected athletes‰ still have the discipline to get in shape and the drive to compete effectively under pressure? Perhaps wearing the insignia of their alma mater will bring them the strength, courage and endurance they need to win; after all, who ever places first, second or third in the final challenge attains the true glory of showering his/her former high school track & field program with financial gifts, prizes, or even a memorable trophy ... Let the fans gather in the stands, as they watch superstar athletes, who represent their high school, win!

I really want to do this, but I am not in shape. I got pneumonia right as I started training. I have also been struggling once again with the real deal bipolar condition that ended my professional career long before I was ready to let go. I am also mostly one big knot of scar tissue in some essential areas. I am being too personal here, but I am really struggling with this. The potential for having to endure the mental and physical pain that ended me the first go around is a real threat, but by the same token I don't want to let anybody down, least of all myself. If I don't do this I'll regret it. If I do do this I may well get hurt badly in ways that go far beyond the physical.

This sounded very interesting to me.....until I read the posted calendar/schedule (with my magnifying glass  ). The time commitment is overwhelming! You need to be there for 7 weeks of training. Granted, it may do me a lot of good for conditioning and technique, but what about all the meets that I couldn't compete in. I also have other things in my life :P

I've decided to hold off on this "first edition" and see how it goes. If there is a second I'll have some more info to make a decision. (Of course this would all be predicated on being 'accepted'.)

don't blame you John... I figure the cost of the las vegas meet will be about $1000 in flights, room and board.... and I haven't gotten a reply on who advances to Fresno. The web says 12 from each event, but we are talking an age range from 32-73. Still have no reply on who's even jumping, or how the advancement will work..... not alot of absolutes at this point and tomorrow's the deadline.

If I were to do this, would I be getting a 7 week vacation away from my kids? *sigh* Just wishful thinking.

I got an email from Bob today saying that they quit this show today because they felt it was a scam. He says he'll have a full report when he gets home. Bubba
