Was Brian's mark 5.56 or 5.57m? He told me 5.57m on the phone a few hours ago. Another little tid bit... how bout an all time PR from 6 LEFTS?! Wow. This guy is ready for some BIG TIME bars. Congrats Brian!

The bar was raised to 18'3" which is 5.56m on the conversion chart. I didn't have a chart at the meet and was told 18'3" was 5.57m.

wow, that's unfortunate.... 5.57m would have been a lock for Brian to the trials. There are several tied at 5.56m now and he will have to wait or jump higher. We need these smaller meets to start going METRIC like the rest of the world!

Amazing! Rather than say what's really on my mind, I'm just going to find something else to do to cool down.

I am sure if Brian would have asked they would have moved the bar a 1/4 or 1/2 inch higher. If it had been an issue for him i guess he would have. Get off Morry's back. This was an outstanding fun meet in a first class facility.

For sure, I think he was more importantly trying to go for a lifetime PR from 6 lefts, because if hitting the qualifying height was really on his mind, I am sure he would have ordered it up!

Morry, I wish I could have come down to jump there, we were in St. Louis for NAIA nationals this last weekend though, but maybe someday ill get to come down and check it out...

Well he told me when he talked to me that he jumped 5.57m. Obviously he was trying to jump the people tied at 5.56m on the list right now so hitting a qualifying height was definitely on his mind....

I didn't mean to make anybody angry, I was just saying it was a bit unfortunate for him. He will jump higher, so it's not an issue, I was just a bit frustrated for him not getting the 5.57m that he wanted.

Didn't mean to make anyone upset, and I'm sorry if I did.

the whole thing was kind of crazy in terms of only being 6 lefts. I have been in jonesboro for 2 weeks with earl bell, and he demoted me from 8 because the extra speed was killing my take off. the night before the meet i asked him if he wanted me to be ready to go to 14 so i could try and get a better qualifying (seeing as my lifetime PR from 6 was only 5.35 going into the meet). Earl said if you start doing what weve been practicing you can jump those heights from 6. Honestly im not quite sure i thought i could, but im glad for how it worked out. For those curious, my 6left run is 94'9 inches, with 40'6 mid (yes its a 2L mid for short runs for me). I was on a 5.10 13.7 flex which i think is a 205lb rating, gripping about 15'10. The PR jump was actually one of my worst technical efforts, but we have been working on being more aggressive through the box so i was still able to load up this pole pretty well. If i can just punching the hands and driving the chest a bit better, i think i am capable of jumping 5.65 from that run on the next pole. I will post video on YouTube

in terms of the 5.56 5.57, yes i thought i was jumping a 5.57, as did AVCcoach at the time when it was all set up. It was actually an conversion error that happened at the time that wasn't realized til this morning. Its just one of those things that happens. nothing can be done about it now anyway.

Coach Bell is keeping me 6 lefts for another week of practice and a meet this weekend here in jonesboro, and then i have 3 meets which i will probably only go back to 7 lefts since speed is not the limiting factor from jumping 5.70+. I guess the way i see it now, if i cant duplicate that performance and jump even higher from a slightly longer run, i wouldn't deserve to be at the trials anyway. For now its just nice to have my first PR in over 2 years of struggling. Hoping for soon more.

p.s. The AVC facility is an incredible place. Coach Sanders did a great job putting it all together and the local kids are super fortunate that he loves the sport so much.
