How long do the athletes have to declare?
How long do the Men and women's vaulters have to declare themselves for beijing.? What's the deadline date? Is it differen't or the same for both?

No individual athlete controls national team declarations. It's handled soley by team head coaches.

Are you getting confused with the declaration process for the Trials?
The declaration process for the Olympics itself is rather irrelevant, no vaulter who qualified would choose not to go to the Olympics unless they suffered a horrible injury or something to that effect.

Declaration Deadlines and Fees
A rolling declarations process will be used. An athlete must declare entry into an event no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, two days prior to the first round of that event.
Date Received
6/18/08 through (the day for your event--see declaration schedule) at 11:59 p.m. ET
There is no late declaration period (see declaration appeals process below).

Declaration Process
Once properly entered, all athletes must complete the declaration process. This process confirms your intention to compete in the Olympic Trials and allows you to update your qualifying mark, which ensures your meet eligibility and provides for accurate seeding.
Online is the only method of declaration. No other form of declaration will be accepted.
A rolling declarations process will be used. An athlete must declare entry into an event no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, two days prior to the first round of that event.
Declarations will be accepted per the rolling declaration schedule beginning on June 18, 2008 at 12:01 a.m. ET. There is no late declaration period (see declarations appeal process).
Athletes may declare at any time within the declaration period but no later than the declaration deadline for their event.
Each athlete or his representative must declare whether that athlete will or will not compete. The person declaring may submit any corrected or improved mark.
Athletes not declaring by the event declaration deadline will be scratched.
To declare online, you will be required to provide your 2008 USATF membership number and password (click here to retrieve your password if you don't know it).
A Help Line is available for those who need help with the declaration process. For assistance call 317-713-4657 during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday during June 18-23, or 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. PT Monday - Friday during June 24 - July 2.
For declarations close to the deadlines: although we will make every reasonable effort, we cannot guarantee responses to requests for passwords. Please declare early!

No late declarations will be accepted. An appeals process will be available for those athletes who wish to declare after the close of declarations for their event. Appeals must be made on or before 12:00 noon PT on the day after declarations close for the event in question (note that Pacific Times are used here due to the location of the Appeals Team).
Appeals for late declaration will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon PT on the day after declarations close for the event in question.
Appeals may be filed by calling 317-713-4657. However, please note that submission of an appeal does not guarantee acceptance into the Olympic Trials. Results of appeals will show on the Status of Entries page. No other notice will be given.
Appeals must be accompanied by a non-refundable $250 appeals fee, payable by credit card only. "Visa, the only card accepted by USATF."
