Patriot PV Vaultarama Series in Westborough, MA

Unread postby VaultnGus » Fri May 30, 2008 12:03 pm

What's a Vaultarama? A Vaultarama is a USA Track and Field sanctioned pole vault competition hosted by the Patriot Pole Vault Club. Not only is there friendly vaulting competition, but also good food, good friends, and loads of fun. This summer, the PPVC will be hosting four Vaultaramas throughout July and August at our home base in Westborough, MA.

Directions to the facility can be found at :
http://patriotpv.com/PatriotPV_Directions.php

The competition is open to any and all pole vaulters - young or old, small or tall, experienced or total noob - provided you bring with you proof of a current USATF membership (http://www.usatf.org) and a small fee ($10 for Patriot Pole Vault Club members, $15 for non-members). Bring in your old sneakers for donation and recycling and receive a discount on your entrance fee - see below for details! Starting heights are usually around 5 feet and we may be scheduling a specific start time for second warm-ups for higher heights. Check our website for the most current information.

Dates for this summer's Vaultaramas are:

Saturday, July 19 - 3pm (warmups after 2pm)
Saturday, August 2 - 3pm (warmups after 2pm)
Saturday, August 9 -3pm (warmups after 2pm)
Saturday, August 23 - 3pm (warmups after 2pm)

(please note – if we experience higher than expected demand we may move the start times earlier to accommodate everyone…)

If you do not have access to your competition poles or just really don’t feel like traveling with them you will have access to our inventory of over 150+ poles. Obviously we ask that you take the utmost care of our poles. We do have certain rules and if these rules are broken you can be sure one of the coaches will be there to administer a nice pushup regime or a few laps.

The pole inventory can be found online at : http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key= ... l2_gO893PA

Various other activities usually occur concurrently with the competition such as horseshoes, ultimate Frisbee and general nonsense.

All vaults will be recorded on a TiVo digital recording system and will be available for instantaneous technique feedback during the competition. Numerous coaches will be available to help you diagnose your vaults. We will also have a photographer on hand taking pictures of nearly every vault that will later be available for purchase on our website for a small fee (all profits go directly back to the club).

Sneaker Donation & Recycling

We have all gone through pair after pair of running shoes, competition spikes, trainers, and just everyday sneakers. While some of those sneakers may be beyond repair, others may still have a few good miles in them. Bring your old sneakers to any or all of our Vaultarama competitions for donation to either a recycling or distribution charity. Those who bring acceptable sneakers for donation will eligible for a discounted competition fee.

Sponsors

The Patriot Pole Vault Club is currently looking for sponsors for this summer's Vaultarama series. If you know of anyone or company that may be interested, please send an email to: coachingrid[at]patriotpv.com

T-Shirt Design Contest

Your challenge: design the front of a t-shirt to be made for this summer's Vaultarama series. Be creative, but also keep it family-friendly. Remember we have some young vaulters in our crew! Feel free to make a digital creation (150 dpi, at least 1024 x 768) or a traditional pen/paper/markers design. Information that MUST be somewhere on the design includes:

Patriot Pole Vault Club
Vaultarama
Summer 2008 OR the specific dates (July 19, August 2, August 9, August 23, 2008)
Westborough, MA

Feel free to use any of the online t-shirt design websites such as:

Custom Ink http://www.customink.com
Uber Prints http://www.uberprints.com
Zazzle http://www.zazzle.com/custom/tshirts

Deadline for the contest is June 20th. Winner(s) will be selected by a t-shirt committee and your design will be printed before the first Vaultarama. Good luck!

If you have any questions about this summer's Vaultarama series, feel free to contact coachdoug[at]patriotpv.com or coachingrid[at]patriotpv.com or visit our website at http://www.patriotpv.com/

Any word on how many people you think are going to be there?

What heights, is it competitive, and any big names?

In years past we've had anywhere from 10-40 vaulters show up. The heights range from 5' to however high anybody decides to challenge on that day (our meet record is 15'). We go from brand noobs to experienced high schoolers to advanced collegians to master's athletes. All are welcome :-) As for big names well we're not going to get any Olympians but we may have some New England studs jumping depending on how their schedules work out.

Hey Coach Doug,

The meet record has got to be at least 15'6.25". Three summers ago (2005) Jordan Thull borrowed one of your Altius poles. I measured it with my laser measuring device. Remember?

Now, what's the women's record?? I know that KJ will want to know. :D

Jillena DeCarteret of Narragansett, MA, who will be a high senior this fall, put on a show at Vaultarama # 3 yesterday. First she PR'd at 11'06" and then PR'd again at 11'09". She was just on fire! I've never seen her look so good. Everything was clicking!

Congratulations Jillena! :D Way to Go!

Jillena did clear 12' yesterday but it was during an exhibition not an official competition unfortunately. We had a demonstration of the vault during our high school's homecoming festivities and the vaulters were allowed to pick and choose heights and take as many shots at them as they wanted. Still it was a pretty awesome jump :-)
