what's the rule for how many they take to the final? I thought it was 12-15 depending on how everything progresses? Is it down to just 12 ideally?

Athlete Quotes - Men's Pole Vault Qualifying

Brad Walker

"It was good. The goal was to take as few as jumps as possible and be ready to go on Sunday."

"The crowd is great. I jumped an American record here a couple weeks ago, so I think they remember that. The fans are very supportive."

Tommy Skipper (no height)

"I'm really sad, but it wasn't meant to be. It wasn't in my hands, it was in the Lord's hands. I can't help that my legs cramped up, and I can't do anything without my legs."

"Hayward Field has had some great opportunities, some great memories.... I'm sorry for the Eugene fans. I'm going to be that much more hungry for 2012, for next year."

"I feel strongly that I would have done really well today (Friday) if it wasn't for the cramping in my legs."
