I saw Rory Quiller smoke 5.20m from 4 lefts this summer on a 15' pole while he was injured. Should have made 5.35m but just missed it 3 times. I bet he has or will in practice. Watch out for that guy.

Yeah Derek did it on December 5th. I have the video from that jump, ill post it when i get a chance. He has jumped 5.40 from that run before

Highest things ive heard
5.40 - Jeff Hartwig, Daniel Ryland (2005), and Derek
5.35 - Jeremy Scott

theres a ton of people slightly below there. A lot of it depends on how you run. If it takes you a while to build up speed, your not gonna be a good short run jumper. Ive jumped 5.20 from that run. I think chip heuser has done 5.30.

P.s. The record Ive heard for 5 steps is 5.70

Brian,

What is the highest you have heard of from 6 steps?

I thought my 5.0m from 8 was good.....

I will venture out on a limb and say it is a 5m pole. Probably a 14.8 flex or so. If it is a 5m pole, he appears to be holding around 4.80. If you do the math on the approach (using the 60 foot mid he usually hits from 16 strides) you can say with some certainty that his 4 left approach start is around 70-72'. Pretty beastly on all accounts if you ask me!

Pole - 5.00 15.1 BA flex, which by typicall factory to bell flex conversions would be 14.8 or 14.9. I should say the pole used to be a 5.00, its been cut down a few inches, so i think its about a 4.95 pole or so.

Dereks 4L is around 66'

That is a very technically Sound jump

and Rory is the man, i have jumped with and against him through highschool and college and the kid never stops improving. i will not be suprised when he is surpassing some of the worlds best in the near future.

I plan on getting my a** back on the track this spring and summer so hopefully i will be at some meets to see him jump while his opening height is my pr , 5.20 haha
