college letters?

Unread postby ennairb » Tue Oct 07, 2003 3:35 pm

Hey I have a quick question for anyone who can help me out ;)

I'm a junior in high school this year and I've been getting these letters from some colleges and the letters just kind of say congratulations on a good track season last year and then they just start to tell about whatever college it's from and also they include like a form to fill out that you send back to the coach about your academics and track information.

Do these letters mean anything or is it just something that a lot of people get? just wondering lol

Thanks! :D

Depends what kind/size of schools they are. I know some smaller schools (DII,DIII) will send out lots of these letters to anyone who has competed at state. If its somewhere you want to go then cool. The coach has at least a little interest in you if they took the time to send them. They're hoping maybe one or two people who get them will come to their school. If you're seriously looking at a school it would probably be a good idea to call or email the coach saying that you're interested in competing.

I've recieved some of those but not for my vaulting. (Last season was my first and I only got 13' so I need to get better this year!) I have disregarded most of them mainly because they are not from schools that I am interested in.

I thought colleges weren't allowed to contact you until after junior year, however you could contact them

They can contact you by mail or email. They can't call you on the phone until after July 1 after junior year. The fun part is that it at least lets you know what colleges are already interested in you at the beginning of your junior year! It's fun! The letters are saying she can call them....or contact by email....but I'm still not sure about even calling them, so we will stick to email and letters to respond back to them to make sure we are following the rules! PS Division I IS allowed to contact during junior year ;) :D
That's Jodie!!

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.
