Clubs or training in FLORIDA

Unread postby Ethan » Wed Mar 18, 2009 12:06 pm

I live in Indiana but i have an intern spot at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida for the summer and looking into if there is any clubs or teams down there that i could train with or get a hold of to vault.

Any information is appreciated.

Ya anything would help, ya the problem is most the stuff i have found is about 1 half two hours away, like i have a friend that said i could come down and vault with him a UF, but its a drive. I'll be in an athletes in training program there but not sure if there going to let me vault there yet, but i know I'll be training at some multimillion high school facility not sure if that's the same place your talking about or not. But USATF might not be to bad either if there not to far.

good morning

yep.. he has held the masters record for his age from time to time..

we have had a "backyard" pit in Apopka for 30 years.. Mike Holloway that jumped at the U of F holds (i think) the "yard" record of 17-6.. it's is a full runway and big pit under cover..

he has rings, high bar, rope vault, tramp..etc..

i'm not sure of the name of the place but it is prob one of those schools,
so should i just email him and tell him want i'm trying to do you think he would be cool with that
by the way what is his name. all that equipment sounds great.

and those schools from around that area do you know if they do have vault stuff?

Thanks guys for the info tho.

hye

yes email him... he is in maryland at the master nationals right now though...

masters vaulters and local kids come to his place.. but since he retired he doesn't "coach" on a regular basis..

most of the schools have limited access because of liability.. but there are two or three other coaches in the area that focus on the vault...

i don't know if they have a "vault coach" at the facility in clermont.. unless bobby has moved back..

my brother and i did it for a while.. but another coach stopped that.. he is now gone so they may let a vault coach come back to the facility and coach..

email my brother.. joe.. he will follow up with you......

If you are in the Tampa area, the newly formed Florida Pole Vault Academy will be running year around pole vault club practices. You can either join the AAU club, and practice year around, or come to one of our many camps, or free pole vault safety clinics. Look at the website for more information at http://www.floridapolevaultacademy.org

Closer to Orlando, there is a coach named Bill Cashman who is a former college coach and runs a club. email me if you would like his contact information. Great coach, many champions.
