World Champs WPV - Isi NH! Rogowska gold! Pyrek/Johnson silv

Women’s Pole Vault
Highlight of the night, in altitude terms, is likely to be the queen of the infield, Yelena Isinbayeva. Unaccountably, the Russian has lost this season. OK, it was only once, to Anna Rogowska, in London. But the Pole also raised her best to 4.80 metres this season, just five centimetres shy of Izzie’s equally unaccountable season’s high. On paper, Fabiana Murer’s 4.82m Brazilian record should also make her a contender to dislodge Isinbayeva’s crown. But common sense tells us that at the end of what is bound to be another long night – hopefully not into Cinderella territory, i.e. close to midnight, as it was in Beijing – then the glass slipper, er, the gold medal will again be strung around Isinbayeva neck.

I think that is a great height progression. Isi shouldn't have too much room to complain, it should get to her opening height (65? 75?) relatively quickly.

The women are warming up now and already an update!
IAAF live blog:
18:00 Moderator - Some concern at the pole vault pit during warmups - it appears that Golubchikova had a bad run-up, she's lying on the mats now getting attention from the stadium staff.

Golubchikova - looks like she's out - either a wicked cramp or a slight pull of hte hamstring during warmups - grabbed it halfway through one of her runups

IAAF: 18:02 Moderator - Golubchikova is now on her feet and walking away with assistance. Her left upper leg is wrapped, and she's limping a little.

The height progression listed on the live updates includes 4.25 for some reason.

IAAF: 18:40 Moderator - Golubchikova will not start the pole vault, she's listed as a DNS now. Opening height 4.25m, four vaulters (Battke, Rogowska, Pyrek and of course Isinbayeva) have already passed.

Spiegelburg and Murer also listed as passing opening, they are still updating it.
I don't know why the opening height was lowered to 4.25, that is low for the finals of the world championships! Most are passing.

Re: World Champs Women's Pole Vault Finals - Updates here!
I posed the question of the opening height to the moderator of the IAAF live chat:
18:42 polevaultpower - Why was the opening height of the women's pole vault lowered to 4.25? The start list indicated 4.40
18:42 Moderator - Not sure. 4.40m is the second height designated. Murer and Spiegelburg have also passed 4.25m now. And Johnson. Maybe nobody will try 4.25m anyway.
