I had a question on the efficiency in return of a vault on two different poles:
Assume I am capable of comfortably using both poles
My body weight: 127lbs or 57.6kg
Current Pole: 13' 150 Skypole.......Grip 12'10" max
max height cleared in competition: 12'6"...13' practice
Possible future pole: 14' 135 UCS....Grip 13'7" max
Which pole would you think would be more efficient, both in bar height clearance and in pop off the top?
And is it time for this transition?/ is this the right pole to transition to?

potential bar height is based on grip...
a 12-10 grip = a 13 (average vault)
a 13-5 grip = 14
a 13-9 grip = 14-6

Best thing to do is get on the 14 X 135 and grip EXACTLY WHERE YOU GRIP ON THE 13 X 150. Not from the top down but from the bottom up. In other words, if your grip on the 150 is at 12 feet from the bottom of the pole, grip the 135 at 12 feet from the bottom of the pole and see what it does. Then move up two fingers at a time and see when you run out of pole (mush it out). You may find that the Spirit might unbend a little stronger than the Skypole. On the other hand you may find out that the Spirit is too soft and therefore useless to you. My guess is that at the get go the Spirit will be too soft but you won't know till you jump on it. When you move up to the 14' 135, you have to grip at 12'10. When you move up to new poles, always grip at the same height that you were using on your old pole. The 135 actually might feel a bit soft when you jump on it holding at the same height, assuming the flex rating is the same between the two.
The efficiency in return of a vault varies between poles. It's pretty hard for someone to vault 10 feet on a 10 foot pole (hah unless they're really short) but much more plausible to vault thirteen feet on a thirteen foot pole. That being said, vaulting 13 feet on a 12'10 pole is an efficient amount, and odds are you won't be able to get much more than a few inches on that pole, so moving up would be a good idea.
