Well, I don't understand what you mean by keep it straight, Are you referring to the trail leg? But yes, jump up, and stand up with your hands high to get a good plant. Though, keep in mind while focusing on jumping up, not to slow down, just emphasize your last step more. Doing these things will help give you a more dynamic take off and better invert position but will NOT fix your trail leg. These things will help but it is also muscle memory. Your trail leg needs to be drilled in exercises such as bubkas and straight pole swing ups.

Keep up the work!

Switched poles a few weeks ago. Moved up to a 14 ft 140. I started using it at the beginning of april and cleared 11-6 in two meets and could of easily cleared 12' if i didn't stare at the bar. I was fine until a week ago when i was vaulting at a meet where it was cold and raining(not hard enough to stop the meet) and nh'd. Before i had my standards at 60 and since last week ive only gotten that far into the pit twice and the rest i wouldn't even make it at 40. I feel like i might be running flat and over striding especially my last steps.
None of the jumps except the first jump are ones that i landed deep, didn't bother trying to finish those jumps because i was afraid i would have to bail out of it
First jump
standards at 60
bar at 11'
was my first jump so i kind of just sat over it to get 2nd place in the dual meet
grip was at 12'9-13'
14'140 pole
run at 80'-80"6
rest of jumps
grip the same 14 140 pole
run from 80-82'
under every time by at least half a foot
