Obviously those minimum opening heights were not enforced

Dick Moss changed the format a little to give the female athletes a better experience. He grouped the better women into one group and the less experienced women into another group to improve the flow of competition. I don't think anyone minded or gained an advantage. He may have also affected the opening heights; but I don't know one way or the other because I had to leave to go back to work. I know the head judge is not one to ignore rules without orders from above.

Sounds like a good move to me, but if they're going to have minimum opening heights they should use them. Women under age 70 should not be allowed to attempt bars under 4' IMO. I mean I know masters nationals is really just a big all-comers meet... but still, the concept of minimum opening heights is not the worst one in the world, especially since they were very reasonable and generous with them.

I'm pretty sure they aren't doing the same with the guys. Too bad about that because tomorrow morning I'm gonna need all the help I can get after working three competitions with no shade in two days.
