Waterlogged UCS Spirit Pit
I'm a pole vaulter in edmonds school district in washington, and our pole vault program is shared between all four of the high schools in our district. Our pit gets tons of use, but our district neglects our program (one coach for 30 vaulters). Currently, we have a pit that sits atop pallets but is waterlogged into the foam 6 inches thick. Our pit cover leaks, but when we rebuilt our pit we found that the mats do not drain the water they accumulate, making them sag and our pit even worse then it has to be. If you could help with this problem, or have info on a nice cheap pit please post. P.S. our plant box is also almost completely rusted through.

Get more tarps until the cover is not leaking anymore. The mats are not designed to drain when upright, you should flip them over sometime when it is dry out to let them drain. If you poke holes in the bottom, they'll drain in the short term but won't last as long in the long-term. That pit was in pretty good shape last time I was there, you guys should be able to get many more years out of it. But you've got to keep adding plastic until it stays dry every time.
