Ripoff Essex??
Hey I got two Essex poles and they look like they are Altius? These poles don't have a serial number or a black butt plate. If I wanted Altius I would of paid $100 less. What is up anyone else have this problem.
I think they ripped me off by giving me a cheaper pole under a better label. I haven't been able to get ahold of anyone at Essex either -- what's going on? If I had wanted a cheaper pole that is what I would have purchased.

Yes, other people have had that problem, you're not crazy. I don't think there has been a resolution.
I don't have a solution for you... If you used a credit card maybe you can dispute the charges. A number of parties have lawyers involved.

I am sorry for the problem many of you are having
I am truly sorry for the problems many of you are having!
Currently Altius is no longer private labeling the ESSX vaulting poles for me!
I have produced a quality vaulting pole for over 10 years and I intend to continue to produce an even better fiberglass vaulting pole In the very near future!
Your welcome to write if you have questions or need assistance to my email at bruce@essxpv.com
Thank you

Re: Ripoff Essex??
Happened to me last month. Altius is skating on very thin ice on this one. I returned it to distribution. You should do the same.

Re: Ripoff Essex??
I also have received poles that i dont think are essx poles . I have been doing business with Bruce for the last four years and have always gotten what I ordered. I have bought over 100 poles and have been completely satisfied, and the kids love the poles.they dont want to jump on any thing else and I do own and rent other brands. I was very glad to hear Bruce is back on his own.By the way if you have any essx poles you dont want I'll be glad to take them off your hands.

I just got some13' and 14' 7" Essx poles and the where the real deal, look for the carbon weave, red butt plug, and serial number at the bottom of the pole. I think the problem poles were the ones 12'4 and under and pole 15' 9' and larger.

What makes you think you didn't get an Essx? Just because you can't see a little piece of carbon in the butt? It could still be the same patterns. You could destroy the pole and take it apart and tell if you knew what the patterns looked like.
What makes you think a less expensive pole isn't as good of a pole? I work with over 100 kids and the vast majority prefer Altius to every other brand.
Almost everyone who try's one for the first time PR's within the first 4 or 5 Jumps!! Had a girl buy a 12'4" Carbon last weekend. Her very first meet with it she PR'd
by 18" went from a pb of 9' to 10'-6" (one of many examples of a kid getting on the right sized pole with the right grip)

"What makes you think a less expensive pole isn't as good of a pole?" --- Interesting comment but has zero bearing on getting a product that is not what was ordered -- if the call had been made and then ask if they could supply something else - then you have a different story
regarding the right pole - brand does not dictate the right pole - which is mentioned that improvement because they have the right size (wgt and length) - there is not a single pole brand in the world that will make you improve a foot if you already on the right size pole
do not believe anyone in these post said Altius are inferior poles -

Re: Ripoff Essex??
The issue isn't which poles are better, it's an issue of getting what you ordered. If someone ordered a CarbonFX and got shipped a Skypole, they would be unhappy.
As a coach, if I received a questionable pole, I would be concerned about safety. Each manufacturer sets their own weight ratings. Altius and ESSX use different patterns. If you took an Altius pole, flexed it on the ESSX scale, and marked it as the equivalent ESSX based on flex number, it _should_ offer a similar amount of resistance, but there are no guarantees. That is why I can't just drive down to Carson City and have the folks at UCS/Spirit re-label all of my non-Spirit poles.

Re: Ripoff Essex??
rainbow girl you are exactly right you should get exactly what you pay for after buying almost 100 poles at verious times over the last five years i would be able to tell the difference between the two poles.and i beleve these are altius with essx lables on them. hopefully this was a mistake and the owner of essxpv will man up and resolve this issue as any good businessman would,at this time i have not made contact with him , but i will keep your readers informed to my progress
