USATF will not ratify records set on wooden runways outdoors. Rule 264, which to the best of my knowledge applies to records set at any level. Pretty sure the IAAF will not either, I remember that being an issue when Stacy jumped 15' for the first time.

Still, nice jump by Babco. It's still 1 cm above my all-time PR.

Looking forward to seeing him in a few weeks.

I think it's a good rule.

Too many board runways aren't level or legal. Whenever I officiated for a Tri-Valley or Tigerbar Street Vault, I always made sure the runways were legal; but it can take up to three hours to get it right and most street vault organizers just don't have that kind of time or resources.

And then there are the ones who don't care if it's legal or intentionally set up a downhill runway . . .

I also think it is a good rule, although I prefer running on the boards as I seem to get more bounce, manage a faster approach, and find it is much easier on my old knees.

Many stadiums have runways that are more downhill (or uphill!) than the rules allow. I don't have a problem with an outdoor board runway requiring additional documentation to prove that it is level, but I don't think being a board runway is inherently unfair.
