Re: Rieti - Borges jumping right now
Did he stop after clearing 581?

In the video when he got off the mat, it looked like he signaled to the official he was done.

Definitely 5m poles. I think LB could straight-pole with 475 grip. Especially from 20 strides. Let's be realistic. - On Tap

Bro the Joe I'd love to agree with you because mostly...you're right. However after analyzing this video with my metric ruler and doing the conversion of millimeters per frame in relation to centimeters traveled over ax/b. I've realized that PVstorm is closer to the probable conclusion of 5m poles.

HAHAHA, I love this post. Yea, I was really just taking a guess at the pole's length. PVstorm's probably right though

Re: Rieti - Borges 5.81
Sorry it has taken me so long to contribute, but I just received the results I've been waiting for!
After Lazaro "The-Boards" Borges had a great World Champs, and then his follow up 5.81 result, I had to find out the size of Lazaro's poles conclusively. I had the video from both Daegu as well as Rieti sent to a colleague of mine who is a professor of film at Allegheny University, he specializes in video analysis. The conclusions were determined from the spacial relationship between the height of the cross bar and the vertical height of vault pole. Taking into account the 21.75cm box depth differential, my colleague determined the pole length was anywhere between 4.81 and 5.02m.
If it's a 4.75m pole then Lazaro must have had an attachment. Thinking of what he could use to make the attachment secure still baffles me, tape wouldn't work, neither would super glue.
Peace Up!

It should only take him one heartbreaking miss to realize why pole vaulters wear their numbers on the back and not the front.

Maybe he's frightened by the possiblity of landing on the little pin needles that hold them on. OR he dosen't want to penetrated the Websuit he wears.
