I used to do Soccer, until HS...but now I only do track...which is basically just pole vaulting...haha...

I also golf sometimes during the summer, and I'm a really good Candlepin bowler (was one of the top averages in every league I have ever been in) :)

Did football, basketball, baseball, cross country, and downhill skiing in addition to track, but my old passion was motocross. Had a tough decision to make my senior year of high school whether to pursue launching myself 15'+ in the air on dirt bikes or fiberglass poles. Wanted to be committed to one instead of halfass in two sports. Chose vaulting and don't regret it, but miss racing a lot.

As you can see from the avitar I used to do a bit (everyday in the summer for about 8 years) of water skiing. Have only gone three times in the last five years now. Currently I do a lot of mt. bikiing and road biking.

yeah, i know this isn't technically a sport, but you get as much of a workout as any sport when you're at the level we're at....i'm in the marching band! and no, its not just parades (we have not done a parade in many many years...we hate them), we compete in 6 competitions every year, and the last one is the national championships. we are arguably the best band in missouri, and the only one to ever come close to making semifinals at nationals.

it gives you the same workout as a sport....but most band members will admit that it technically isn't...i'm a pretty big band geek, and plan on doing drum corps when i'm out of high school, but to anyone who KNOWS what marching band means, i'll admit its not technically a sport. to ppl who just don't get how hard it can be, i'll stand by it being as hard as any sport out there...not as dangerous as many (unless you're on the weapon line in colorguard >.< ouch...) i'll admit though...lol

now, the colorguard part...they make us do some crazy s***...i can't call fall colorguard and winterguard anything but a sport....i remember a few times where i would have to be running(and stay in step) in one direction, taking about 5 steps every 2 seconds (150-160 bpm i think, for anyone who knows what THAT means....) then do a U-turn in the space of ONE step (and just pivoting on my feet was NOT an option, had to actually step around to turn), and run back the other direction....all this while spinning and tossing a flag in the air...

Football

Unread postby C-townvault » Thu Feb 05, 2004 9:04 pm

Doesn't sound like many people on here used to be football players? I played football for 2 years in high school then i decided i would stay with just track this past year. Probably the best decision i could have made.
... O ya i was one of the idiots on the kickoff team that was supposed to run down the field as fast as i could and hit the returner. Known as the Hit men....

Hi, this is Lord of the Pole's friend Anthony. Im just here to pretty much debate that right there lol. I very much think that marching band and drum corps are both sports. You need teamwork, you compete on both local and national levels, people pay to see you (especially in drum corps), you have fun, and its very physically demanding....sounds like a sport to me :)

There are national poker tournaments. does that make it a sport? no.
