I just started vaulting this year, and have been using middle distance spikes to vault and high jump in. Are there special types of vaulting spikes I could use, and would they improve my vault by that much?

Depending on how high you are jumping, middle distance spikes are probably fine for pole vaulting. Yes they do make pole vault spikes but if you do other events those are fine. But as far as high jump, I do not know if I would recommend middle distance spikes just because there is no spike on the heel and to do the technique right you need a flatter shoe with spikes on the heel.

For vaulting you can use pole vault, long jump, or triple jump spikes because they all have a stiff sole made for jumping. For high jump, you should be fine jumping at a begginer level in any type of spike I guess, but high jump spikes are very unique.

Middle distance spikes are fine for pole vaulting, especially for beginners. Buying a fancy pair of jump spikes will not improve your PR.
