Hello -
I've always regretted not trying pole vault in my younger years, and well I'm hoping to try it out now. I'd love to find a beginner's class, if that exists for adults or a private session, and figured if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be this group.
Thank ya,
Megs

The closest club to the Philly area is in Doylestown, PA. However, they are primarily a summer outdoor club and the season is winding down. Get in touch with Coach Sherwood. There may be a few fall sessions. http://flightclub.weebly.com/
There is also a club in Newark, DE - if that is closer to you, called Deasil Pole Vault. I couldn't find a website for them, but they have a phone number on the USATF website. http://www.usatf.org/clubs/search/info. ... onNumber=8

Wowza, thanks for all the replies! I thought everyone might ignore it, and think this girl is crazy haha.
Thanks for the post, rainbowgirl28. I definitely don’t want to get in contact with a coach (since I have zero idea what I’m doing) but I’ll definitely reach out to the clubs and see if anything is possible.
GasPasser, I’ll check out the Flight Club and email Coach Sherwood.
DJ, I’ll definitely check those out.
Thanks again all!

You have to be a bit crazy to be a pole vaulter - it's a prerequisite! If you're not crazy about the thrill of flying dangerously high, then you're thinking about joining the wrong sport! It's not for the timid. So you're in good company!

It's the coaches that run the clubs, so you will have to talk to a coach to join a club.
All PV coaches and club members are a friendly bunch, and almost all welcome newcomers with open arms.
Even if you're feeling like too much of a newbie to walk into a club and start training immediately, I think you just need to find out the time and place to drop in to a local club and see what's going on. And of course chat with a few people that may also be watching or "hanging around".
This will get you introductions to the appropriate people to take the next steps.
The worst that can happen is that you will meet someone that knows someone that can help you.
Go for it!
