The design of the pole tip increases the angle in the box to provide more penetration allowing the vaulter to get on a slightly stiffer pole .25 flex stiffer for the potential of jumping higher.

Very interesting. Certainly a breakthrough if it works. May I ask for a detailed, yet lamen terms description of how this works?

Yes if the angle of the box is 105 degrees but you could move the angle back more the pole would have more room to bend without being stopped by the back of the box. A greater angle can be produced by not allowing the pole tip to be flush with the box. thus a greater angle more bending room, more penitration. Stiffer pole is easier to bend.

The original and a simular concept was patented by Dave Johnson.

What is more important is the space age material used to resit cutting of the material from the pole.

my understanding is that you're poles dont hit the back of the box, made to be stiff on bottom with higher bend. havent paid close enough attention on video to check to see if mine do...if If I am correct, will these tips make a difference on ESSX poles in terms of how they're supposed to help (keeping poles from hitting back of box, etc.)? the pole will hit the back of the box the bottom will remain away from the back of the box to create a greater angle of the pole in the box.

If the back of the box would be less steep, poles would roll over more easily, because they're not being stopped by the impact at the top of the box as soon, so theoretically you could hold higher and possible move stiffer poles. The German coach wrote a proposal I believe to the IAAF with a request to decrease the angle (slope forward toward the pit more), but I don't believe he had any luck convincing them to do it.

hey i got the tip today, thanks for sendin it so quick. it fit the pole i was using very snugly, worked well. perhaps it added to my vault, im blowin through it pretty good (its the fifth in a series of poles ive used, most stiff) jumpin w/ standards of 31. next week im gonna try out a 14 foot, i think 185. (pacer, flex of 13. somethin) so anyways, about the tip, looked great to me, felt solid as heck. may i ask what it is made of or is that an industry secret? lol. it bounces well! i threw it hard as possible at ground, bounced like a golf ball. i think it would make a great chew toy, i was gonna see what kind of number my golden retriever could do on it, but decided to use it (of course) and didnt want him to choke1 lol. it would make a good 'prop' on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (rudolph nose, clown nose, world record zit, among other things, haha) so do you want me to mention it on the forum? thanks again, i think after im done this season i may use it for a good shift knob in my standard car. haha and send you a picture. take care,

oh jeez didnt know that was goin up here. well for anyone curious, it looks like a great tip to me, worked well on my pole, though im not sure if it was too beneficial do to the fact that im already blowin through all my poles. sturdy as heck though! PM if you want anymore info, it would indeed make for the ultimate chew toy. if you wanna see it on a program ( dont know the name, kinda like one of them acrobat programs, i apologize for my computer illiteracy) let me know, i have a cool file of it on my comp. very interesting design worth checkin out, worth investing in!
