Ice or heat?

Ice or heat?
For sore/strained muscles should I ice, heat or both. Anyone who actually knows please help cause I have heard alot of different opinions.

it depends- what i've found to help the most is ice for 20 mins then heat for 20 mins then ice again for 20 mins then nothing for 2 hours. it gets all the bad things out of your muscles, brings in new blood to repair your muscles, then gets all that stuff out to let you recover. best advice i can give is to see a doctor, and ask him or her what the best m.o. would be- but i'd let him know that you don't want drugs... unless you do.

I have to use heat because I cramp so bad from ice and from having had very bad hamstrings. If your like me use heat, stretch light use to regain tension(not tightness- just not lax) and that should help. otherwise, heat first, light long stretch, use, light stretch, then ice. Never ice and strech
