hell yeah that is awesome. he is from central illinois, Farmington high school actually. i remember when i was in 8th grade watching him vault in the state meet. i think he was a 16' high school vaulter but one of the meats my team went to he vaulted in as a junior and jumped 14-1 for the meet record. my senior year i broke that record with 14-1 and some change. i still go around bragging about how i broke one of jacob pauli's records. of course my record got broken the next year, but that guy probably didnt feel near as cool for getting that relatively low meet record.

my schools vaulters were actually got along with the farmington guys pretty well so my senior year one of my teammates was a really big dude and we borrowed some of pauli's old poles from farmington: a 15 180, 15-9 80 and 85 and a 16' 190. my buddie actually ended up breaking the 85 in a practice and of course the 90 was mainly for show.

my teammate that was older and vaulted against him would talk about pauli and say that he would go to the olympics some day.............
