Just recently found out that Rusty Shealy will now be the vault coach at University of South Carolina. Congrats Mr. SHealy and we all know you will do a great job.

Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. - Muhammad Ali

Talent in cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.

Thanks! I am really excited about taking my coaching game to the college level. We have been very blessed to achieve the level of vaulters that we have with high school conditioning. To apply sound fundamental technique to great college conditioning should make for some great vaulting. :D

USC Announces New Track and Field Pole Vault Coach
Rusty Shealy joins USC track and field staff.

Sept. 8, 2004

Columbia, SC - The University of South Carolina and track and field head coach Curtis Frye announced Wednesday the new addition of pole vault coach Rusty Shealy, of Cayce, SC.

Shealy, director of Carolina Exteme Pole Vault, one of the nation's finest pole vault clubs located in Cayce, vaulted for USC in the early 1980s and was the 1999, 2001 and 2002 USATF state and regional master's pole vault champion.

"We're glad to have Rusty onboard. He's a great addition to our program," Frye said.

Shealy has been the director and head coach of Carolina Extreme since 1998 and has since coached dozens of athletes sent to him by both high school and college coaches. Several of Shealy's athletes have held top national rankings and have been world team members.

"I'm definitely excited about it," Shealy said about his new position. "It's a dream come true to take what we've done on a junior level to the collegiate level with the level of conditioning being so much better on a collegiate level. The techniques that we've been able to teach; it's exciting to think about the possibilities."
