I'm just curious about anyone's experience studying abroad. I'm definitely considering doing it since I can for the same rate @ UNM (which is free cause of scholarship, though not room and board) right now thinking of australia. well how was your experince? did you vault there? did it delay your progress in getting a degree, etc. well lemme know

but you can go on a cruise ship and attend classes on the boat for college credit wow

That is the way to go. Fall class cruises and summer class crusise.

Aha, one of my favorite subjects. I don't know if your school will have the program, but I transferred to the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse to go on there study abroad program to La Trobe University in Bondura, (bad spelling) just on the outskirts of Melbourne. Six months, four of them in School, and a great, great time. There is the possiblility of pole vaulting. Check out "White Horse Pole Vault Club" in Melbourne.
Go for it, even if it puts you back a bit for graduation it will be worth it. Study abroad rocks! Try to live in the dorms if you do, you meet lots of Aussies right off the bat that way.

I studied abroad in Florence, Italy one summer. My number one piece of advice on going to college is STUDY ABROAD!!! It was such as amazing experience. I wanted to do it for a semester or year, but I had to only go for a summer because it would interfere too much with vault. With so much to do and see, working out can get pushed to the back of your list, even if you have good intentions. But maybe I just didn't go to a good place to vault...

Anyway, I know so many people who regret not going abroad when they had the chance. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Oh, and it doesn't have to put you back for graduation if you plan ahead (some classes transfer, or you could also save up your electives). It's worth it even if it does put you back.

I, unfortunately, am unable to study abroad for a semester or for a whole year because I am double majoring and minor, not to mention my liberal education reqs I have to fulfill. If you can, I say do it though--I wish I could. Luckily, my school has Jan-term (for those who don't know what that is, it is a term that lasts just the month of january--one class for the whole month, usually every day for 3-4 hours) and my jan-term class this year is actually a trip to paris! yay!! It may be for only a month, but at least I can say I kind of studied abroad...

We have a J-term as well. I have to take it to compete during that time. My advisor waited a bit long to sign me up for classes, so there were no classes open that met any requirements for me to graduate.

So for an elective I get to take "Coaching with Character"... At least I won't have to worry about school distracting me much while I get moved in and such

I didn't study abroad, but I did jump for the Mannheim team in the 60's. Training concepts differ from the US. Beer and Cig's are cool after practice.....
