Men's Results

Interesting to see from the scoresheet that when they moved to 5.85, due to passes at 5.80 by the three medalists, Pavlov was leading; when they moved to 5.90, Gibilisco was leading. Lots of pressure there! I thought Toby's third attempt at 5.95 had the best height of the competition: just not quite deep enough.

I hate having to wait and look within 4 fricking hours of coverage for the pole vault coverage...why don't they just give a time?!

You can see the times within the nearest half hour or hour on www.nbcolympics.com

It looks like the pole vault will be shown from 10-12 tonight.

Sadly, that means glimpses of the vault spread out over two hours, not 2 hours of coverage ;)

I noticed that... I have been watching, waiting anxiously (and watching stargate while I wait)... they showed like 3 jumps, then went to other events, then came back, showed 3 more, and now they're on the 4x400...

Oh yea, you can really tell they're trying hard to get Toby's "new nickname" to stick...EVERY SINGLE time they refer to him it's "Toby Crash Stevenson" or "Crash Stevenson"... BAH!

What a great moment. Winning gold on your final attempt. Baseball players grow up dreaming about hitting a home run with the last at bat in the world series for the win. Basketball player practice hitting a j as the clock runs out to win the NBA finals. There couldn't be a more exciting moment in vaulter's career than coming down on a third attempt to set a new PR, OR, and win the GOLD. Tim is the MAN!

just out of curiosity, where did the "crash" part come about? has he always had it? i assume that it has something to do with the helmet. is this merely a creation of dwight stones?
