I talked to a guy who wants to vault this year and the first thing he said was "I think crash should have won the gold medal." I was suprised that he called toby crash, Im sure if he is doing it then pretty much everyone else who isnt a member on this site probably does too

Funny you mention that ... the pastor at our church came up to us after the service on sunday and said "I saw Crash get the silver." He doesn't really know anything about vaulting and we had never mentioned Toby or the name Crash, but he used it. It's catching on...curse you Stones! :mad:

Changing nickname

Unread postby jmayesvaultmom » Tue Aug 31, 2004 6:53 pm

I am officially starting the nickname name change for Toby from "Crash" to "CRAZY"!!! I think it fit him better! Toby "Crazy" Stevenson.... that will go along with his antics after each vault.... :D
That's Jodie!!

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....

Habakkuk 3:19
The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

All my friends that don't pole vault-- all 3 of them ;) j.k.-- call him Crash. It bugs me so much that I want to yell at them for calling him the wrong name!
It's Toby You Idiots!!! :mad: Dwight has some nerve calling Toby "Crash" all the time.

Once again, the only one worthy of the name "crash" is my old roomate Mike Fowler. He is puts the rash in crash. When that guy first started at SWT he was downright scary!!!!! I think he escaped death on a daily basis.

I guess some good came from the nickname; it stuck. The sad fact is no one at work on Monday morning could nqame the gold medalist, but everyone who watched the coverage remembered "crash." I hate the name as much as everyone else, but if it gets people talking about the sport we all win.

Where did Stone come up with the nickname "Crash"? When Prefontaine was given the nickname "Pre" I can understand that. But not Crash! :confused:

maybe because they say he is wearing a "crash" helmet? :P I don't really know, the nickname is pretty stupid.

I talked to Toby last weekend and he says the nickname is better than no nickname at all.
