I personally love the clap. It gets me pumped up, and idk, it jsut seems to be a relaxation factor when going for those higher heights. It is awesome.

I too love the clap; however, I tend to do poorly when it occurs. Who knows...maybe I have clapophobia (fear of the clap?).....and I mean the kind where you hit both hand together repeatedly....

I also don't like like to see pole vaulters competing by themselves, without coaches or other observers, during high school meets. Usually, these vaulters don't do well, and they leave frustrated and disappointed. It also is a safety risk.
The other dislike is when the schools hosting the meets fail to provide extenders to help return the bar to its post after it has been knocked off. Nothing slows down a competition more! Ditto for failing to provide volunteers to do this chore.

my school doesn't want to afford to buy another pole vault coach. so i have to vault by myself with one other vaulter. plus, they removed the rubber runway from the pv area and replaced it with asphalt and left it be since they had to put in turf ground for football field. and lemme tell u, it hurts my shins so much to have to try to jump off of the hard ground. and not only that, but the pits were mishandled so badly. but i still got hope for a good season
