Male - Dmitri Markov, probably because his runup and plant is godlike. And that's one quality I'd like to have ;)

Female - obviously Becca Gillespy... cuz she can be an awesome vaulter AND run an awesome site at the same time, MULTITASK!
I slept, and I slept... and now I'm awake.

Well one out of two anyway ;)

I guess I am a multitasker... I am posting from the indoor track at Arkansas State while the guys jump!

on the men side TMACK, cuz he gave me some great advice once and actually answered my emails.

for the women id have to say chelsea johnson and shayla balentine because we spent hours looking for people to roll at sky jumpers!! and they are pretty spectacular athletes

Well for the guys i'd have to say Brad Walker, cause he went to my high school and he is good. We even have the same coach still, so maybe his skill will sway my way.

As for the women... i think im in the same boat as vaultninja. You cant really go wrong.
Just you wait...

Its pretty obvious that if you are American and a pole vaulter, you love Toby and Tim. Thats a given.

Two of my personal favorites are Tarasov, who had probably one of the most flawless vaults EVER, and Galfione, whose run is freakin amazing and just flew off the end of poles. Only downside is that he is French.
Haha.

Women's side the jury is still out. Feofanova has some beautiful technique tho...
As of right now my vote is for Jamie Presley.

Darn! Beaten with to the punch but I will agree the Maxim Tarasov is the only guy ever to make the vault look smooth and easy. A great technical model for my teaching.

For the females: Svetlana Feofanova is very efficient and smooth considering her "short" comings. Poor girl just got the better of Dragila when here comes Isinbayeva. She will always be the brides maid but she is another technical model for my teaching.

man. Gotta give it to bubka. I have been looking at his jumps and he starts of so smooth and relaxed. Easily had the best run of any vaulter ever. Tarassov was a bit better off the top and thats it.
i think before my days are done.

that comparison is crap. how are you gonna try to say that tarasov was not a great technical model. yes bubka jumped higher, but there is no mention of runway speed on that page. Thats the only difference. Many people will argue that tarasov is a far better technician than bubka, and i personally agree. not that bubka isn't still the man. just sayin

I totally agree. Bubka is running faster and probably has a stiffer pole than Maxim because of it.

Performance wise, Tarasov has the highest junior performance and highest opening height of any jumper. The man was smooth and consistent, period.
