Transferring...
Hey All,
I am looking to transfer to a D1 school, and am wondering what schools people would be looking for a vaulter. I haven't jumped much indoor yet, and am just wondering how I would go about finding a place to transfer too. Anyone with any good schools to transfer too, it would be great if you could post those. Thanks!
Zach

I am in NAIA division 2, and my first semester I earned a 3.62, so I made the Deans List. I had a 3.5 cumulative in High School, so grades are not an issue. I know that if I move to D1, I will have to redshirt freshman year...cuz I am moving up...but I do need somewhere taht I can train consistently and have a good coach to learn from. I feel that my potential wont be able to be tapped at where I am at right now...

hey Zach,
I just Started coaching at William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA We are a D 1 School with a Pretty good budget, an indoor facility to train in and we are having our track totally redone. I have been helping Jan with the vault camps for a long time, you can ask him and chelsea about my knowledge of the vault, the only problem i have right now with getting good vaulters to come here is that no one konws that we have a great selection of poles and that we have an indoor facility. We are in the CAA the last few years the conference has been won in 17' or so. Poles are never a problem and knowledge is never a problem. its just getting the good athletes in to the school. our admissions is soo tough. but with your GPA above 3.2 you would have no problem. You should not have to sit out a year when you transfer. if your current coach would release you then you wont have to sit out.

Yeah, like the previous coach said, if you get released and this is your first time transferring you should not have to sit out.
keep an eye out for NAIA schools
hey zach, I vaulted at cornerstone for two years and I understand the frustration of small schools and why DI is calling your name. But I know that you chose Bethel for more than Pole vaulting. it might be worth it for you to check out some GSAC NAIA schools such as Pt. Loma and Azusa Pacific. They have incredible programs and train year round. (and you can't beat the weather). Both coaches are awesome. you might want to just email them explaining your situation. Good hunting...
Michigan State
You need to give Ty Sevin a call @ Michigan State. He is loosing a senior and I know he is looking to sign 1 or 2 vaulters for next year. There is a good group here and I'd bet 2 of his guys push 5.50 this year.
