This happened at about 5:30 this afternoon at the Magnet Cove Panther Relays just outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas. There were about 10 teams there. We had the week off getting rested for our conference meets, but wanted to take some vaulters to this meet since it was centrally located and because they had a good pv facility. There was a huge head wind, but none of us made a big deal about it, and neither did the vaulters. We have emailed John Dye with all of the info, so now it's a waiting game to see when it's posted.

Eshbach had a 44 1/2" push...15'1" grip, 18'2 1/2" bar. Any high schooler pushing more than 30" is really impressive.

wow!!! I"m bigger than him and i'm a chica!!!! 41 inches of push off??!!! Wow-wee!!! and he's only a sophmore!!!

We're working on getting some digital video so we can post it on our website. Spencer's running from 82 feet. That's 14 strides (7 lefts) for him. We toyed with a longer run, but the only significant result we got was a larger margin of error in step consistancy. Shorter run = less energy per vault = more quality vaults per session/meet = higher vaults. This might not work for everyone, but Spencer is pretty quick and excelerates over the take-off. Most of our practice time is spent working on different phases of the vault from a short run.
