If you want a way to earn money and cross-train during the off season, become a soccer referee. It is good pay, and you run around enough to equate one day's ref-ing to one practice (Assuming you referee at least 2 adult or 3 kids games) Contact your local soccer association for more information. I know everywhere is always looking for people to become refs. http://www.ussoccer.com/templates/inclu ... inHdbk.pdf
that is the web site for the rules, and it might have some links if you look hard enough.
Yes, I am a ref who is desparately trying to recruit more for when fall soccer starts up.

About 4 years ago I had to kick a parent out of a 6 year old game because he was yelling about a slide tackle that I shouldnt have called..... Thats about when I started to become disgusted with soccer

I ref games in the fall for the local little league sports group. They pay us $10 a game for U10 and below and $15 for U12 and up. I don't mind what age group I get. The older kids are more fun to watch and there are more calls made, but you can fit almost 2 like U6 or U8 games in the time one of the older games takes place. The great thing is that those only take place on sundays and a saturday once in a great while, but sometimes I will do 7 or 8 games in one day and that gets to be a long day.
