How long did it take for everyone to get every part of jumping down pat?

I think it is a never ending process!

I was actually talking about getting the jump as in actually bending he pole and getting inverted stuff like that....because you don't start off jumping upside down....

There are a million factors. As far as bending the pole correctly, and getting upside down correctly? After 6-7 years I am starting to get it. Its a slow gradual process. I think if you do it properly you can learn to bend in one day. Start reallllllly short. Move up runs and grips when you are doing things correctly. And before you know it you are bending the pole. Getting vertical depends on alot of things. Try to do everything right. Dont get in a hurry, be persistent. Doing things impulsively or in a hurry will slow the process down considerably. Good luck

it took me a couple weeks to bend the pole, and four years to get close to being inverted.

hey now!! you didn't see my jump at SEC's!!! i went 16'9 holding at 15'0!!! that's pretty damn close for me.... plus i said "close to being inverted"... so i was honest... but hey, when i do get upside down, and run from farther than 80 feet, it'll be nuts... or when i get a left arm. are you guys coming to the bulldog invite??

well, i'm on my second year vaulting, and i'm bending my pole well, and starting to get inverted...i just got back from an EB camp, and he told me i should be on his demo tape ^_^...i think part of it has to do with having the right pole...i spent all season last year on a too-stiff pole, so that prolly had something to do with the fact that the pole refused to bend for me. although that could also be because i had absolutely NO techinique last year...i vaulted purely from my arm strength, by pulling myself up the pole(i had just come out of 8 years of gymnastics)...but i was bending my pole almost as soon as i started vaulting at the camp...blew through three pretty quickly and ended up on one that was actually a legal weight for me.

this is my second year vaulting and I just started Drilling on Hanging back and kicking the top of my pole....although I am not bending the pole and I am not sure if it is that i am only hold about 3/4 of the way up the pole or if I am just not doing it right........

could be either or both...holding low on the pole is definitely gonna make it harder to bend...that was one of my biggest problems last year...i was using a 12-4 pole, but only holding prolly at 10-6 or 11...my technique also sucked though...so that didn't help any either
