Athens, Greece - In the last few minutes, Asafa Powell of Jamaica has, subject to ratification, broken the World 100 metres record at the Athens Super Grand Prix Tsiklitiria 2005.

Powell's time was clocked as 9.78 seconds equalling the existing World record - Tim Montgomery, USA, Paris, France, 14/09/2002 - but a few minutes later this was rounded down officially to 9.77 (wind 1.6m/s). His reaction time at the start was 0.150.

“I knew that I could do it," commented Powell. "I did my best. It feels great to be the fastest man of the world."

Osafa Powell is the most over-rated sprinter in the world. When he runs "alone" he is by far the most talented sprinter, but he loves to choke when he has compition. Anytime the race is packed, he always chokes, look at Athens, and look at the Pre-Classic. Im not bashing him, kudos to him, but he needs to start to lose the ego and run for himself not to beat other ppl.

your legs cant move faster than your arms i dont think. Might not be totally true because some vaulters run without moving there arms much. but I belive in it.

The body is a perfect example of for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. If u look at the best recievers in the NFL, before the snap they will pump their arms, and they will even do it when they stop and take cornors.
