USATF Championships Updates

With the men's vault final scheduled for 6:30 PDT tonight (strange day to schedule one of the meet's most popular events), you might want to check out masters fanatic Ken Stone's website for frequent updates on the competition. He writes:

If all goes according to plan, I will begin keeping a live diary of events at the USA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships starting Thursday night (June 23) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, near. L.A.

As I did last year at the Sacramento Olympic Trials, I'll be posting details of events as they happen. In the case of field events, you'll be able to see who made what height or threw far well in advance of the official USATF results site. The blog is hosted by SignOnSanDiego.com -- my employer. SignOn is the award-winning Web site of The San Diego Union-Tribune, where I've worked for nearly 20 years.

The meet is only four days -- half as long as the Olympic Trials -- so I'll have plenty of energy left for the climactic Sunday afternoon, when many finals will determine the USA team for the IAAF World Championships in Helsinki in August.

Here is where you can read my real-time reports from Carson:

One great feature of this blog is its comment function -- you can talk back, ask questions, express opinions on the action in Carson. I can't guarantee I'll respond to all your comments, but I'll try.

Here is the meet schedule (in Pacific time):

So check out your favorite events as they happen -- and please share the blog URL with your friends and favorite mailing lists and online message boards.

Enjoy the meet!
