I broke a pole at practice today, but I can't figure out what made it snap where it did.
It broke right about the 1.75' point, near the bottom. It was a relatively new pole (abt 2 years old), and no real visible damage.
I was on my last jump before I switched to a bigger pole, my step was right on, and it felt like it was going to be a good jump...then it broke.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Here is a possiblility
when the pole is not caught it can fall to the ground and strike the edge of the box. most hits occur at 3' 6" at the top of the box. But if it falls to the side the box rim can ding the pole 1. 75' up the pole and break on subsequent jumps.
