Oh yeah, Coach would probably want me to pass this little nugget along. Akron's not going to Reno this year...that's not the important part.... We are gonna put up a board runway for one of our home meets right in front of the stands, so it should be pretty kick A. Hope to see some pretty sweet comp there. If not that's okay too. I'd like to leave Akron with the fieldhouse record. Unfortunately, Vaultin Chris and another old timer, Kevin Poest co-own the record at a measely 5.30. That's got to go.

is the raised runway going to stay in for the whole season, because we have big east there, and im just wonderin if it will still be there, and if its fast that would be dope most raised runways are quick and make you feel a little faster.

Nah it ain't gonna stay the whole season. Mostly, because our fieldhouse manager is a psycho. Nah he's a nice guy, but really anal. There's a good chance that we would be able to do that though. It just depends on the schedule of the meet, and where everything is being held. I'll talk to coach about that, although he'll probably be reading this anyways.

That would be cool, im looking forward to it, because even if you dont your facility is 200 times better than the carrier dome, that place is like running on concrete, with holes in the runway and it just plain suks, but a raised runway would be dope and are you guys going to be around that weekend of the big east or do you have your own conference meet or some other meet that weekend let me know

I know that we'll be working the meet, so I'll probably be helping out with the vault.

Well, we are a private school, which sucks for funding...most of the money goes to basketball.....but we have a very helpful group of alumni that get us equiptment, but scholorships are harder to come by. We have a great outdoor facility, but it is so cold here during spring because of the lake, hosting a meet is hard.

Our vault program was great a long time ago.....in the late 50's we had a national champion and a coulple other placers. About 8 or 10 years ago we had a multi get hurt badly while vaulting so they stopped recruiting vaulters and almost cut the vault program. The coach pretty much told them that it is stupid to cut an event and they kept it.

Our vaulters are all decent, but we all have a great deal of potential...we are all here for school and vault cause we love it. We have 2 girls that are 11 6 vaulters, and 2 more that are 11. They all could be better with a little more form work.

I am a mid 15 vaulter that should be a mid 16 if i change a couple of things and get on a bigger pole, and we have another guy that is low 15 that could be high 15 with some changes.

Our coach holds the highschool record in the state of Wisconsin at 15' 7" and he vaulted 17 at the University of Wisconsin.

Our team overall is not a powerhouse, but we have athletes that can place. The big thing about all the new Big East teams is that they don't have great sprinters.....except for the freshman. Conference USA was so good at sprints, we didnt' recruit sprinters. If you are running a 10.5 you won't even make finals.

Hopefully this year we will be able to make some noise. Since we don't have many scholorships we have a small team with little depth. Not a big deal, unless there are injuries. We have alot of injuries right now.

Both me and the other guy vaulter are a little banged up, but we should be ready by conference. It is gonna be real tight in the top 8. Attempts will decide alot of places.

You have been in the Big East, what is it like. the meet that is

big east is a reletively good conference ,this year i thinkit willbestepped up with some of the newly added teams, my sophomore year we won the indoor title, i tied for 1st but then lost to my teamate chris mazzain the jump of which was us just trying to clear any bar cus we were both exhausted we both jumped 16 3 , but that was a long time ago since then i have redshirted and spent a year off pretty much just training and working on technical aspects of my vault, and now things are looking really good, im around 17 now but im still ona short approach and a 15 foot pole, by big east ill def be at a fullrun and 16 foot or 5meter pole which will be giving me some toss. first attempts are big at any championship meet, especially the big east, if your a mid 15 foot vaulter be ready to battle it out for placement with a lot of guys, that is especially important that you make jumps on your first attempt, the meet has a lot of energy and i cant wait to see everyone therre for a good day of competition

so then conference will be a battle between you and the guy from pitt....there is a 16' from rutgers, but he is a freshman and will have to get used to the big meet....then there is me, my teammate and 3 guys from Notre Dame that jump in the 15's.......it is gonna be close....i can't wait for it......well good luck untill then....i expect you to show me something impressive on a big stick with all the extra training time you have had

Whats good guys,
I think the guy from Pitt is someone to watch out for. This summer he went 17'9" more than one time. And last yr. during his freshman yr. he was sick and still jumped over 16'8". And word is Pitt also has some other vaulters to watch out for!! I am confident in saying that this guy from Pitt will definitely post a higher jump than 17'9" this season.
