Sit ups every day?

Sit ups every day?

Everyone is always talking about getting the proper rest after lifting to let your muscles recover, but is it bad to do crunches/sit ups every day?

i have herd that you have good blood flow in your abs and they recover more quickly than any other part of your body. is there any truth to this?

Also im kinda paranoid about not working my abs out equally so i was wondering if anyone had a workout i could do in my dorm that did a good job working out every area equally.

I don't see anything wrong with working your abs everyday. Your abs are a set of endurance muscles that you use every waking moment.

Truth is that if every athlete had a very low BF% then they would all have a nice set of abs that weren't offensive to look at.

As used for pv training purposes, you should compliment your ab workout with sessions of ballistic (quick and powerful) reps. Just remember to try each variation of your regular training to the point of fatigue and when doing ballistic work, set a time limit and try to do as many reps as you can (fast) within that time limit (i.e. 30 seconds).

Another tip would be to not anchor your feet (that's cheating). Crunches are also good fillers and are great for warming the muscles, but I wouldn't choose them over full range exercises. Be creative! There's a million ways to blow out your abs.

"they" say that the calves are the only muscle that can be worked on after a 24 hour period..
but, i often catch myself saying "what the hell do 'they' know"
but, in this instance, i'm gonna stick to it..
there, maybe now i'm one of the "they" and you'll have to wonder...

My gym teacher has tld not to do abs everyday that if you do them
every other day they will get stronger much faster

my strength and conditioning professor who is on his almost done with his Phd said that they should not be trained every day. He said they are still a muscle, so they still need the rest........they guy has alot of knowledge so i am gonna believe him on this.

ive heard alot of the same reguarding claves and abs but i train abs/core every other day and its working out pretty good....

Nothing wrong with training abs every-other day, but there's really nothing wrong with training your abs everyday either.

Bottom line in the pole vault..... If you can't swing upside-down on a high bar or rings without having to bend at the hips, YOU NEED MORE ab work. If you can't do this and you are reading this post, quit wasting good time and get to work.

it also depends what everyone considers "training" the abs. Doing 200 situps is not going to fatigue the abs....doing med balls, sit ups, and other abs in one session is something that can't be done everyday.

Great point VaultMarq26!

The only way to progress is to fatigue the muscles involved. I guess I didn't elaborate enough about variation. Concentrate on a specific area of your abs each workout (they're not just one muscle), and vary your exercises.
